About the Event

Thomas Donnelly, a defense and security policy analyst, is the director of the Center for Defense Studies at the American Enterprise Institute. He is the author of several books, including Lessons for a Long War: How America Can Win on New Battlefields and Ground Truth: The Future of US Land Power. Mr. Donnelly has also been an editor for the Armed Forces Journal, Army Times, and Defense News.

Christopher Preble is the Vice President for Defense and Foreign Policy Studies at the CATO Institute. He is the author of a number of books, includingThe Power Problem: How American Military Dominance Makes Us Less Safe, Less Prosperous and Less Free. In addition to his books, Preble has published over 150 articles in major publications including USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, the Financial Times, National Review, The National Interest, the Harvard International Review, and Foreign Policy.
