The mission of the William F. Buckley Jr, Program is to promote intellectual diversity at Yale University. We aim to expand political discourse on campus and expose students to often-unvoiced views. We believe that ideas have consequences and that genuine intellectual diversity is essential for advancing critical inquiry and avoiding ideological complacency.

Our hope is that by providing a home for a diverse collection of serious conservative thought we can provide a forum for Yale students to consider and examine a range of political philosophies to which they are rarely exposed.

As such, the purpose of this program is to foster open political discussion and intellectual engagement on campus.

"The largest cultural menace in America is the conformity of the intellectual cliques which, in education as well as the arts, are out to impose upon the nation their modish fads and fallacies, and have nearly succeeded in doing so. In this cultural issue, we are, without reservations, on the side of excellence (rather than 'newness') and of honest intellectual combat (rather than conformity). "
