Our New Student Leadership

We are delighted to announce that for the coming year Madeline Fortier ’19 and Cameron Koffman ’19 will serve as the Buckley Program’s student president and vice president, respectively.

Madeline and Cameron note: “We are excited to assume the roles of student president and vice president of the Buckley Program, representing an intellectually diverse group of almost 300 student fellows. We look forward to promoting substantive political discourse on Yale’s campus by hosting thoughtful, principled speakers with views outside of the typical echo chamber, and we are honored to lead the Program into yet another crucial year for principles of free expression on college campuses across the country.”

Madeline Fortier is a junior majoring in Ethics, Politics, & Economics. This summer, she will be working at Oliver Wyman in Boston as a management consultant. Last summer, she worked at the Manhattan Institute for Public Policy Research, a free-market think tank in NYC, and she was previously the Editorial Intern at The New Criterion magazine. Madeline is fluent in Spanish and has used the language in her translating work as a research assistant in Yale’s history department. In her spare time, Madeline enjoys staying up to date on the news, reading novels, hiking, and listening to classical music.

Cameron Koffman is a junior majoring in Ethics, Politics, & Economics. Last summer, Cameron worked for the CNBC television show Closing Bell where he helped produce segments and pitch content. He has also worked for WOR 710 Radio and for Binghamton University’s College of Community and Public Affairs. At Yale, he hosts two weekly talk shows on the student radio station (one on sports and one on politics) and calls play-by-play for Yale sports on the radio. In his spare time, he loves golfing, hiking, watching sports (especially the New York Knicks), and reading The Wall Street Journal.

Between the two of them, Madeline and Cameron have served a total of eight semesters on the student board of the Buckley Program. We are thrilled to have their leadership of our student fellows program. We also wish to express our gratitude to the 2017 student board for their efforts this past year.
